Thought I would share some pictures from today.

Cooking without electricity

We figured it was about time we did this again or people will think we gave this practice up; when in actuality, it is never far from our minds. We are always trying to come up with something to cook. Monday night was different in two ways--

First, our friends Chuck and Robin called and said they were bringing us over some raspberry plants; little did they know they would be roped into having dinner with us. They brought the most wonderful bacon, thick and lean. We decided to cook a shrimp stir-fry on the Camp Chef---and cook the bacon separate and eat that too!

Second, we used onions from our garden in the stir-fry. They were wonderful! The smell of the onions and the taste were magnificent. For desert, we had Strawberry-Rhubarb Crisp baked in a Dutch Oven (with Vanilla Bean ice cream) and the rhubarb was from our garden! It was exciting to eat the fruits of our labors. We had a very fun evening.

It was great to get the raspberries planted too.

Kammeyer Happenings

Some Highlights of this past week:

I was scheduled to work three days. One of the days was extremely busy and two of the days I was able to come home early; which was nice because I could do yard work and clean the house.

Lauren, Katherine and I get together once a month for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We are trying out different restaurants. If it is dinner, the women just go, if it is breakfast or lunch, the grandkids go too. Last Thursday, it was a breakfast at Shari's. It doesn't take very long; it's great to get together; and, it gives us a chance to discuss the family dinners and activities we have going on.

James is trying to ride his bicycle to work as many days as he can. He is doing real well at it. It is a 12 mile round-trip. He finds he is really enjoying it.

James and I would love to get up to Seattle more often and visit family; but it seems our other commitments preclude that from happening. We had not visited that beautiful city since December and decided that we would take up our pressure washer and our carpet cleaner and help my mom out.

James went in to work early so he could get his hours in before I picked him up at 3:00 PM. We had lots of hard rain, but amazingly, the traffic was not bad and we were able to make it to James' brother John and his wife Anne's home where we spent a couple hours visiting and eating Chinese food. It was good to see them. Then we headed to my mom's.

The next morning we headed north with Mom to Mukilteo and had breakfast with my brother Bob and his wife Marianne at the Mukilteo Cafe on the Speedway. The cafe is nostalgic for the northwest with ferry boat memorabilia. It has huge mural size photos of different ferries including the Kalakala. It was a fun place to sit, visit, and eat the yummy pumpkin pancakes.

We were also able to go out to pizza with James's sister Ann. We had a nice visit with her.

We spent the afternoon at Mom's, I cleaned her carpet and James pressure washed outside. We were happy the weather was not too hot.

That evening we went to the adult session of conference; the theme centered on the youth and how difficult it is to grow up in these times. The next day we attended stake conference. The theme was; Love, Charity and Service. After the conference, we had lunch at my mom's and my Aunt Theora joined us; we had a nice visit before heading south toward Portland.
