Our 31st Anniversary Get-A-Way

Our anniversary was last Sunday but since I had to work, we decided to get away this weekend; and a return trip to Lake Quinault was our destination of choice.

We had planned on getting away at 10:00 AM, however with various things that needed to be taken care of, we didn't get out until 2:30 PM.  It was a 3.5 hour trip and we arrived just at 6:00 and by 6:35 we were hiking through the beautiful Falls Creek Loop; one of at least seven hikes right by Quinault Lodge where we are staying. The weather was beautiful and it was a perfect evening for a hike. We went on a fairly short hike, it was just 2.2 miles, but we saw beautiful trees, ferns, streams and waterfalls, we heard birds singing and saw different colors of trillium and mushrooms. It was great just being together.

When we got back, it was getting dark, but we took a picture of Lake Quinault  and the Lodge. Our room is on the second floor to the left of the chimney and overlooks the lake. We ate dinner we had brought in our room wile we watched the lake darken as the sun set. We are headed down to sit in front of fire and read before turning in.
