Our Easter Weekend

We have had a wonderful weekend. Yesterday we went on a 10 mile bike ride along the Sandy River. It was a beautiful day and the waterfalls were spectacular--of course we had a 17 mph wind, but it was calmer down by the river. We hope some day to be able to use a higher gear than first coming up Stark Street hill. Today has been relaxing. Dad gave a very nice talk in church on the attributes of Jesus. He spoke on three of them; power, goodness, and mercy. We had a ham dinner at the Elilasons. Kyle is on a school trip and so there were just the four of us...and, of course the newest unborn Eliason.

A Joyous Holiday

Happy Easter everyone! We hope you have a wonderful holiday, as you celebrate our beloved Savior. I have such great love for our elder brother, who has sacrificed so much for each one of us. His example makes me want to be better each and every day. I am reminded of the chorus to one of my favorite LDS songs, "Oh Lord My Redeemer,"

"Oh Lord my redeemer
thou hast done so much for me.
Oh Lord my redeemer
all my love I give to thee."

Let us all remember our Savior on this day - and always. Love you all!

Katherine...

got an email yesterday that said she is officially licensed to teach in the great state of Oregon! After all that work of filing out forms, getting fingerprinted, and writing checks (oh yes–many, many checks were involved, as well as many, many dollars), she has been rewarded. Now, if only she and Matt could find jobs…

Trip to Seattle-March 2008

Dad and I left for Seattle early Friday morning after making sure that the Rodeo was nice and clean. The 3-hour drive was pleasant and we arrived just in time to have a nice lunch with Grandma before heading north to Everett to spend the afternoon with Grandpa visiting 'Assisted Living' places. We spent the next 3.5 hours and visited two places. As it turned out Grandpa likes the first one that we visited, which is the one that is only a couple of blocks from where Grandma and Grandpa Kammeyer lived for so many years. By 1700 we were all tired of interviewing and headed back to Grandpa's where we met up with Karl and visited some more and downed root beer and ate pizza.












Saturday, we spent 4 hours riding around Seattle. I really wanted to see the Arboretum and we started off by driving by the U of W. and then drove through the Arboretum. We meandered through neighborhoods that bordered Lake Washington where the homes were around 6 million and continued on to Seward Park where we looked at more homes and the scenery out over the water. We drove over the West Seattle Bridge and stopped to look at the Seattle skyline-so beautiful! On we went to Alki Point where we stopped to walk along the waterfront and take pictures.


















We drove on to Ballard and passed the home on 3909 Wallingford where Grandma and Grandpa Conger lived when they first moved to Seattle for 10 months where Grandma said she could look out the window to the south and see the city of Seattle. They lived here while their home was being built in Edmonds; around Christmas they moved in with Leon and Theora until the their home was finished.




We drove on past 39th and Leary where Grandpa Conger and Leon had their Conger Brother's Excavating Company.



















We finished our little journey with an order of batter fried halibut and salmon with chips that the three of us shared at 'Chinooks' under the Ballard Bridge.


Sunday we spent time with Grandpa and Karl, and with Grandma and then headed for home. When we arrived home, we found Blink very happy to see James and tolerant of Kathleen. We opened the windows and were excited, on this very first day of Daylight Savings Time to hear the frogs croaking and we know that Spring is on the way!

Katherine is...

playing and singing one of her original pieces entitled "He Cried" on March 16th at a stake musical fireside.

She Loves Me!

We just went to see the musical "She Loves Me!" at the Hale Center Theater in Orem. Katherine has been wanting to see this play for years--first, when she heard the music for the title song and even more when she learned that it was based on the same book that "You've Got Mail" came from. The music and acting were wonderful and this particular theater is well known for its 'theater in the round' style and we were quite close to the action. Unfortunately, our seats left us looking at bottoms more often then faces, but we had a blast anyway.
